I hope you’ve had a fantastic April. Ours has been busy with planning kids’ birthday parties and spring cleaning, but I just want to take the time in this month’s blog post to talk about how amazing our God is.
Have you ever read Psalm 22? It’s the one Jesus references when He’s hanging on the cross. It’s a look into what Jesus was feeling at that time and what was going on around Him. It also contains a few prophecies that are fulfilled then as well. He suffered on the cross and it was convicting to read it, knowing how easily I forget what He really went through for me. I was especially struck, though, by the last verse in this psalm.
“They shall come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn, that He has done it.” Psalm 22:31

He. Has. Done. It.
“It is finished.” Three words we hear a lot, especially recently as Easter just passed. So much so, we might forget what they really mean. I know I do. But they’re probably the most important words to have ever been said. Jesus said it on the cross. And He meant it. The striving is finished. We don’t have to earn our salvation. We don’t have to earn grace. We don’t have to earn His love. He loved us first (Romans 5:8). All of God’s words are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20). Everything He says comes to fruition. It’s already done the moment He says it. This psalm was written in David’s day, so long before Jesus was even born. But it was already done from God’s perspective.
And I’m so happy that’s true. If I had to rely on my own efforts to get to heaven, I’d never make it. And that’s the point. God knew we’d never make it on our own. But He still wanted us so He made the way Himself.
How amazing is that? The God of all creation loves you so much that He died for you. He didn’t want you to spend eternity away from Him.
And He pursues each one of us individually until we turn to Him, even knowing a lot of us won’t. And then He still pursues us after we’re His. He adopts us in as children and then seeks to be with us. To be the Father He is and allow us to get to know Him personally and become more like Him.

Our God died for us. Out of pure love. Not for anything else (John 3:16).
That’s why the Great Commission is literally our greatest commission, our greatest job. God gave us this job, to point others in His direction. To tell everyone the good news- our debts are paid in full. (Matthew 28:19-20)
One of my favorite quotes about this is by D. T. Niles who was a preacher, evangelist, and author. “Evangelism is just one beggar telling another where to find bread.” And that’s it. We couldn’t save ourselves. And we can’t save anyone else ourselves. We start off needing someone else to show us where to find salvation. And then we can show others where to find it. It’s freely given and always in full supply.

I got the privilege of watching my godson come to Jesus earlier this month. He’d been asking us questions here and there over the past few months and asked us how to know God. God had been seeking him just as He does with all of us.
We’d been pointing him towards the bread with every question he asked and God was faithful to lead him there with every step as well. He is now adopted into God’s family and we’re so excited to see what God is going to do in his life as he grows up too. Because God doesn’t stop pursuing us once we find the bread. He keeps pursuing us.
He keeps giving us more and more bread, taking us back in every time we sin. Sin distances us from Him, but He doesn’t leave us there. He calls us back. He lets us take our time and always welcomes us back with open arms.
He died for us because He loves us. And then He keeps loving us. It never ends and never runs out. Thank God today for His amazing love and make sure to show someone else where to find the bread.
