Sharing Hope Through God's Word

Don’t Wait to Get to Know God: Seek Him While He May Be Found

Hey, everybody! It’s the end of March, and time for this month’s blog post. How’s it going? I know there’s been a lot going on lately in the world and it can be overwhelming. How’s your walk with God been lately? Personally, I’ve found myself in a few different books of the Bible and they’re all coming together to give a very specific message. It’s the message of the whole Bible really.

Seek Him while He may be found.

How often do you think of heaven? Of life after this one? I know I don’t personally think of it very frequently. There’s so much going on in the world as it is. My own day to day usually takes up more of my thinking.

But this world isn’t all there is.

God is very specific about letting us know that. We can be with God in the next life, and that’s exactly His hope for us all. He urges us throughout scripture to turn to Him. Isaiah 55:7 says “let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that He may have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”

God is eager to have compassion. Eager to forgive. He longs for us to be with Him. 2 Peter 3:9-10 shows us that He’s even taking His time to ensure that everyone has a chance to turn to Him for salvation.

I don’t know who needs this message specifically, but I’ve felt an urgency lately to share this one. Maybe you need a reminder of just how serious the gospel is. Maybe you need that final nudge to turn to Him for real. Maybe you’ve never even heard about any of this.

God is not hiding from you. He’s eagerly waiting for you to turn to Him. He loves you. All you have to do is read His word to see just how much. Ask Him to show Himself to you. To show His love for you. To show you who He is. He’s not shy.

He wants your heart. He wants you.

Seek Him while He may be found. Seek with all your heart. He will be found by you. He promises. And God always keeps His promises. Isaiah 55:11 says He never makes a promise without seeing it to fruition. Seriously, just give that whole chapter a read. It’s fantastic. The whole of Isaiah really. It’s a perfect picture of how God is continually seeking us. Wanting more of us. We are His beloved, created by His own hands. All He wants is us. A deep and real relationship with us.

Psalm 27:4 gives a picture of what that life will look like in the future. “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.” This is such a pretty verse to me. It’s not how I always feel. Like I said, a lot of the time, my own day to day in this world takes my focus. But I love this verse because it paints such a beautiful picture of what it will be like to be with God wholeheartedly. To dwell in His house all the days of our life and gaze upon Him. To talk with Him. Every day.

We get a glimpse of this now. We can talk with Him more directly than the Old Testament church since Jesus closed the distance between us. We have the Holy Spirit to speak to us and guide us. To be our Helper. We can read the Bible in its entirety, which wasn’t available for anyone living during its writing. We can meditate on His word, talk with Him, worship Him, praise Him.

But in the next life, we get to be with Him. Face to face.

Seek Him now. Don’t wait. Get to know Him now. We’re not guaranteed tomorrow and, honestly, life is so much easier to navigate with God. So much easier when we can lean on Him and ask Him for direction. It’s not easy. Don’t get me wrong on that. But He’s faithful and He’s good. He’s a good Friend and Father.
